The Head and the Heart performing at the Salt Shed in Chicago, by Josh Darr

Fans packed the Salt Shed in Chicago on Friday (Aug. 8) for an evening filled with the warm harmonies of The Head and the Heart. The venue’s outdoor Fairgrounds offered a generous and scenic backdrop beside the river and with the skyline just beyond it the stage felt both intimate and electric.

The band was supported by Tulsa favorite Wilderado and Nashville singer Katie Pruitt, opening the night with earnest performances that perfectly set the tone. Wilderado brought a bright, melodic energy full of lively hooks while Katie Pruitt connected with listeners through heartfelt lyrics that hinted at new directions. When The Head and the Heart finally took the stage on their Aperture Tour, they filled the air with lush harmonies layered over spirited folk rhythms.

Their headlining set bridged beloved hits with the first live playings of tracks from their new album, Aperture. The blend felt fresh and timeless with older favorites surrounded by fresh voices and melodic flourishes. The audience responded wholeheartedly, singing along through every chorus and swaying deep into the night.

The communal energy was palpable. It was clear this was a sold-out show that left no one standing still and it felt like a shared moment of musical connection.
