Aaron Taos quietly released a new song called "sidekick" last month under the pseudonym "dirty brunette."

With little to no promotion, the earworm (think The Strokes/The Drums) has been bubbling under as it began gaining traction on social media over the past few weeks, to the point that Taos, a longtime Variance favorite, decided to come clean on Monday and share news of the project because it's too good to keep under wraps.

"Can you keep a secret? I guess I cant 😈," Taos wrote on Instagram today. "A month ago I started a side project called @dirtybrunetteeee w my good friend producer wizard @adamkorbesmeyer. We made the song in June. Released it in July. Was gonna keep it under the radar for a while but the reception has been so crazy I wanted to share with my day 1s 🙂‍↕️."

Taos added: "Sometimes the music releasing process doesn’t have to be over thought out and slow. You can just release what you’re excited about most. Hope y’all dig," he wrote, noting there's "much more to come."
