As Sam Smith prepares to release his sophomore album next month, he has shared his "favorite" track from the record in the form of "Burning."

Premiering the gripping ballad Thursday on BBC Radio 1, Smith called it "the most personal song I've ever written in my life." It follows his previously released songs "Too Good at Goodbyes" and "Pray," the latter of which features production from Timbaland.

It's the latest preview of the full album, The Thrill of it All, which is out on Nov. 3. In addition to his performance earlier this month on Saturday Night Live, Smith will hit the road next year in support of the record.

Hear "Burning" below, around the 1:20 mark.
