Because John Mayer knows you've had a long week/year, he's finally delivered his new single "Love on the Weekend," just in time for the actual weekend and cozy fall nights.

As we previously mentioned, the whimsical track is the first preview of Mayer's long-awaited new album, which is expected sometime next year.

Steven Jordan, the drummer in Mayer's John Mayer Trio, said last month the singer's album will be called The Search for Everything. And while this new single seems to recall Mayer's familiar sound, he also previewed another very bluesy, guitar-driven clip of music earlier this month.

Mayer subsequently confirmed the album title in a Facebook Q&A later on Thursday. He said it will be out in the spring (although he didn't reveal a release date), followed by a full tour.

Regarding the title The Search for Everything, the singer said it's "really sort of what my career has been, it's what my life has been, it's the way that my mind works—it sort of consumes everything." He noted the record will be "sort of like a mixtape of all the music that inspires me and all the styles that I've made before."
