The nominations for this year's 70th annual Primetime Emmy Awards have been revealed.

There were few surprises in Thursday's announcement, which saw HBO's Game of Thrones leading in the drama category with 22 and Donald Glover's FX series Atlanta topping the comedy field at 16 nods.

Meanwhile, NBC's Saturday Night Live and HBO's Westworld also led the pack with 21 nominations each, as FX's The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story came out ahead in the limited series category.

Overall, this year's competition looks good for Glover, who scored a lead actor nod for Atlanta in addition to a guest actor nod for his hosting gig on SNL. Also on NBC, fellow musician John Legend earned a nomination for lead actor in a limited series for his starring role in Jesus Christ Superstar.

They're not the only music-makers earning nods, as Bruno Mars has nabbed one for outstanding music direction for his CBS special Bruno Mars: 24K Magic Live at the Apollo. The Super Bowl halftime show starring Justin Timberlake has also earned a music direction nod, while Chance the Rapper's song "Come Back, Barack" featured during the November episode of SNL he hosted has been nominated for outstanding original music and lyrics.

The 2018 Emmys are set for Sept. 17, airing live from Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater on NBC. SNL's Colin Jost and Michael Che will host the ceremony.
