Katy Perry will be hosting this year's Video Music Awards, MTV announced on Thursday.
The news comes after the VMAs nominations were announced earlier this week, with Katy Perry nabbing five nods, behind only Kendrick Lamar, who scored eight.
"I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin and Neil deGrasse Tyson," Perry said in a statement released today. "Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids."
Her hosting stint follows her recent album Witness, as well as news of another high-profile TV gig, having signed on as a judge for the upcoming American Idol reboot.
This year's VMAs are set to air live from the Forum in Inglewood, California, on Sunday Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. EST.
