Kendrick Lamar is stirring speculation about a new album after a mysterious Instagram update.
Just weeks before he headlines Coachella, Lamar on Thursday cleared his Instagram account with the exception of a new image containing the roman numerals "IV," perhaps a nod to his upcoming fourth record.
While Lamar has shared only limited information about a new album, he said in a New York Times interview earlier this month: "I think now, how wayward things have gone within the past few months, my focus is ultimately going back to my community and the other communities around the world where they’re doing the groundwork."
He further explained the forthcoming record would likely have more religious elements than his previous material. "We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God," he said. "Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system."
A rep for Lamar didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
