Fontaines D.C., the post-punk band out of Dublin, Ireland, are named after Johnny Fontane a character in The Godfather, godson of Vito Corleone, the initials DC standing for “Dublin City,” where they formed.

They released their fourth studio album, Romance, and their first on new label XL Recording late in August. The first three albums were welcomed with critical acclaim for the band’s continued envelope pushing in sound and lyrics. Retaining some of that edge in their newest album the band also took a chance seemingly on love with a slightly softer and more approachable sound. A chance that paid off with a bigger following and setting up the still young band to headline a number of festivals in 2025.

They just completed touring for the year which included a stop through a sold-out Salt Shed earlier in October on their North American leg of the tour. It's been another exciting year in music from this wave of post-punk music from across the Atlantic and these Irishmen are making a strong impression as to why they're in the forefront of this scene.
