Album anniversary tours seem to have become an industry norm setting the expectation of the band playing the celebrated album in its entirety. In 2005 English rock band, Bloc Party hit the scene with their debut album, Silent Alarm. The album was an instant hit, showcasing the band’s ability to blend a mix of genres while emphasizing the importance of finding pleasure in small mundane things.
In the 20 years since its release, the band has swapped out members on bass and drums (currently Louise Bartle and Harry Deacon) while frontman Kele Okereke and Russell Lissack are the two remaining founding members. Sunday evening (June 8) wasn’t just a celebration of a timelessly amazing album but also a silent alarm per se of Bloc Party’s stamp in the history of music.
