Lorde will release her new single "Green Light" on Thursday.
After weeks of speculation and a number of hints from the singer herself, Lorde confirmed Wednesday on Twitter the new song will arrive at 2 p.m. EST (technically 8 a.m. on Friday in New Zealand).
The song will arrive with an accompanying video directed by Grant Singer, whose recent credits include Zayn Malik and Taylor Swift's "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" video, as well as clips for The Weeknd's "Starboy" and Phantogram's "You Don't Get Me High Anymore."
"I am so proud of this song," Lorde said of the new track. "It's very different, and kinda unexpected. It's complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you DANCE."
She added: "It's the first chapter of a story I'm gonna tell you, the story of the last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life. This is where we begin."
"Green Light" will serve as the first preview of Lorde's new album, which hasn't yet received a release date. She is scheduled to perform March 11 on Saturday Night Live.
