Community is getting a sixth season after all!

Talk about an 11th hour save, but Yahoo! is getting in the original programming space by securing the defunct NBC comedy for a new season.

Sony Pictures Television announced a deal on Monday to stream a 13-episode, sixth (and likely final) season of the cult favorite series Yahoo! Screen this fall.

"I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” creator Dan Harmon said in a press statement. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!"

As we previously reported, Hulu had been interested in continuing the show but those talks eventually fell apart.

Sony has a strong track record in fighting for the survival of bubble shows (CBS's Rules of Engagement) and resurrecting canceled shows (FX's Damages, Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva).

Regarding a potential movie, Sony exec Zack Van Amberg told The Hollywood Reporter on Monday that he'd be "lying if I told you that we have not had some very early and preliminary conversations that are very exciting about what a potential movie could be and who might direct it." He also exclaimed: "Isn't that our plan? There's no way we're not making the movie now!"

Suddenly, #SixSeasonsandaMovie doesn't seem that far out of reach.
