Only two days after HBO confirmed Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell as its first two leads for the upcoming season of True Detective, it seems the show is one step closer to firming up its cast.

Variety is reporting that Rachel ("The Goddess") McAdams has been offered the lead female detective role, with Taylor Kitsch expected to fill the fourth lead role.

Both McAdams and Kitsch had been rumored to be in the running for their respective roles for weeks.

While it's disappointing that Kate Mara was never in serious contention for a role in the new, 8-episode season, McAdams is certainly a brilliant choice.
