A$AP Rocky's PacSun American Flag Shirt Causes 'Outrage'

A T-shirt from A$AP Rocky's clothing line at PacSun has caused a stir online just as Americans are marking Memorial Day.

The shirt in question, part of the A$AP Worldwide collection, features an upside-down American flag. According to the U.S. Flag Code, the flag should only be flown in that manner during "instances of extreme danger to life or property."

As of Monday afternoon, the shirt has been removed from an Alabama Tanger Outlet location where the photo seen above was taken, prompting Internet outrage.

Conservative outlets and conspiracy theorists have also unsurprisingly jumped onboard declaring the shirt is a reflection of the fact that "our nation is in distress."

PacSun's social media pages have been flooded with complaints, but the shirt remains for sale online and is part of the company's buy one get one 50% off sale.

We've reached out to reps for A$AP Rocky for comment and a member of PacSun's publicity team says the company is expected to comment publicly soon. Because what's an American holiday without controversy!

Update: PacSun’s statement seen below.

"As a retailer grounded in youth culture, PacSun values artistic and creative expression through the brands that we sell in our stores. Out of respect for those who have put their lives on the line for our country, we have decided to stop selling the licensed flag t-shirt and are removing it from our stores and website immediately. We thank the men and women in uniform for their extraordinary service."
