In the latest evidence of how much of a nice guy Ed Sheeran really is, it appears he gave an old friend a songwriting credit on his latest album so that she could afford to pay some bills.

According to the singer, he originally co-wrote his hit "Thinking Out Loud" with childhood pal and fellow musician Amy Wadge as a favor, as she was in the midst of some financial troubles.

Sheeran said during a recent interview with The Mirror that Wadge drove to his house when his recent album x was nearly complete. "She asked if I could put a song from when I was 17 on the deluxe album, so she could get a little bit of money and pay the mortgage and bills and stuff." But it turns out that while she was there, they wrote "Thinking Out Loud."

"Now she never has to worry about money again," Sheeran said, a nod to the fact that "Thinking Out Loud" has now sold millions worldwide, 5 million in the U.S. alone.

Wadge, a mother of two, recently said the pair wrote the song in about 20 minutes. She also admitted that she and her husband "were in tears when we watched him at Glastonbury. Ed is like a member of the family."
