There is definitely no shortage of new music this week. But flying under the radar is British music-maker Chris Ward (aka Tropics).

While it's nowhere near 25 tracks, his new album Nocturnal Souls arrived Friday and it holds a lane of all its own, ebbing through glossy jazz sounds, woozy production elements and haunting psychedelic layers.

“This album was about discovery, new boundaries, bringing the old into the new," Ward said of the new record. "Transforming negative energy of the past that have held you back, or glued you down, into a positive projection of hope and new fidelity. It’s about stripping back to roots, to organic and natural appearances."

BADBADNOTGOOD also contributed to the new project, having co-written and co-produced "Keep Me Turning Back."
