Someone just couldn't wait until midnight, because Taylor Swift's new album Reputation has leaked a few hours early.
Fans on Thursday began claiming the much-hyped record had surfaced online, with some noticing Twitter users sharing individual songs. Music leak tracker Has It Leaked subsequently confirmed the album had been shared early.
The leak is the latest episode in a shaky rollout compared to past Swift releases. The tracklist, which includes an Ed Sheeran and Future collaboration, surfaced earlier this week, prompting Swift to share it herself. Many critics have also panned some or all of the singles released in the weeks leading up to the full album.
With the official album release on Friday, Swift has been in New York rehearsing for this weekend's Saturday Night Live performance, a familiar promo tactic for many artists but something Swift didn't deem necessary for her past three album cycles, last appearing on the show in 2009.
Despite the critics and the leaks, Reputation is still expected to coast to a No. 1 debut, with industry insiders forecasting the album could sell 2 million copies in its first week.
