A longtime Variance favorite is back with new music of his own.
On Friday, Sam Westhoff officially launched his new project titled Haffway, with the scalding first track "Dirty Fire," which he had teased late last month. Westhoff, a musician and producer who has spent the past couple of years working behind the scenes on other artists' projects, said ahead of the song's release: "I've been through many variations as an artist, but this is it for me."
He went on to add: "I’m, for the first time, saying the things I have been wanting to say how I’ve wanted to say them. I feel like my life experience and my writing are aligning ... I’m excited, nervous and with shaky hands, rather hopeful. Thanks for going on a ride with me as I figure my shit out."
Today, in a note accompanying the song's debut, Westhoff described the feeling of releasing the new track (and the forthcoming batch of songs) as being akin to "just takin off my clothes and saying, 'what do ya think?'" Well, we love it, Sam.
