The wait is over—kind of. Pink Sweat$ dropped his new THE PRELUDE EP today.

While he's been gearing up to release his debut album on Atlantic Records, he announced last month he planned to pivot and release this six-song project as a preview of the upcoming album PINK PLANET, which doesn't yet have a release date.

Presumably, the album was expected to have arrived by now, but given the rollercoaster events of the past few months, Pink Sweat$ changed his plans. He started by releasing "Not Alright" last month along with an explanation about the context, which he says is about being Black in America.

"I was planning on putting this record out with the rest of the album," he said. "But I need you all to hear this one now. I've thought a lot about how to use my platform to promote positive change in the world, and my loudest voice is the one speaking to you all in my music. I will always promote love, I will always promote unity, and I will always stand up for what I believe. A lot of us are not alright, but you're not in this fight alone."

To celebrate the EP's release, Pink Sweat$ will host a livestream next Friday (July 24) at 9 p.m. EST, featuring an at-home performance from Philadelphia. Fans will also have a chance to buy exclusive THE PRELUDE merchandise and chat with the artist after the show.
