Leon Else has had quite the rollercoaster ride with the music industry, and that journey continues today with the release of his new single "Change Up."

It marks the Variance favorite's first offering in nearly two years, now as an independent artist after previously signing with Interscope Records. It's also a switch in style and sound for Else, who tells the story of a relationship's abrupt end on the new song.

“Today is the day I’m releasing the first song of my new journey in music as an independent artist," says Else of his new release. "For 27 years, I struggled with my mental health and my sexuality in silence. With the support of the most amazing community of friends, I received the help I desperately needed and found the strength within myself to continue on. I began creating music from a place of pure unfiltered emotion for the first time in my life."

According to the singer, "Change Up" gave him "a sense of healing." He adds: "This is just the beginning of my story as I will continue to share my own personal battles and experiences. I invite you on this journey with me as we open up a vulnerable conversation about the things we internalize."

With more on the way, "Change Up" can be heard below.
