Chance the Rapper brought a special guest to his Open Mike Chicago event on Monday night.
"My next guest needs no introduction, so, uh, let’s try it," said Chance before the music for "This Is America" started to play as Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) came out from back stage.
The crowd, most of whom were seated listening to Chance the Rapper speak, quickly ran toward the stage, devices in hand and screaming and subsequently singing along as Gambino performed the track, which hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 last month.
"This Is America" was released on May 5, coinciding with Glover's hosting and performing duties on that night's episode of NBC's Saturday Night Live, where he also performed the new song.
Malcolm London, who hosts Open Mike Chicago with Chance, shared footage from Gambino's performance on Twitter, which can be seen below.
