Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) says her upcoming album is "about sex and drugs and sadness."
Speaking with The New Yorker, Clark discussed the new record, which doesn't yet have a public title but is expected to arrive this fall.
The singer had previously noted the new material would be reflective of elements in her personal life, after having essentially been in the middle of non-stop album cycles and subsequent tours. "I think it'll be the deepest, boldest work I’ve ever done," she said last year.
One song, titled "Pills," has the lyrics, "Pills to grow, pills to shrink, pills, pills, pills and a good stiff drink / Pills to fuck, pills to eat, pills, pills, pills down the kitchen sink."
Jack Antonoff, who produced Lorde's newest album Melodrama, has also contributed production to St. Vincent's new record.
St. Vincent is also on tour starting in October. See the dates below.
