A day after cryptically suggesting he was interested in helping SoundCloud, Chance the Rapper confirmed he has spoken with the streaming platform's CEO.

"Just had a very fruitful call with Alex Ljung," he tweeted Friday afternoon, declaring: "SoundCloud is here to stay."

His discussion comes after he said yesterday, "I'm working on the SoundCloud thing," a timely comment given the company's recent decision to cut 40% of its staff, followed by reports it may not have enough funding to finish out 2017.

Despite criticism, Ljung promised the recent layoffs would put the SoundCloud on a "path to long-term, independent success." A company spokesperson also responded to recent reports, declaring it is "fully funded" into the fourth quarter, while also in talks with potential investors.

As of last year, SoundCloud, which has struggled to monetize its platform, still had an enviable 175 million active users.
