Lorde Apparently Wasn't Offered Solo Grammys Performance

Lorde won't be performing at Sunday night's 60th annual Grammy Awards, according to a report from Variety.

The publication cited sources with knowledge of the show's plans, claiming the New Zealand songstress was asked to perform as part of a Tom Petty tribute, rather than a performance of her own material.

Lorde is the only female currently nominated for Album of the Year. But according to Variety, Grammys producers offered fellow Album of the Year nominees Jay-Z, Bruno Mars, Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar a chance to perform their own work.

Ultimately, it appears Lorde declined to perform at the Grammys. According to TMZ, she will also not be appearing on the red carpet.

We had reached out to reps for the Recording Academy earlier this week asking if Lorde would perform. As of this writing, the Academy has yet to issue any kind of public comment. A spokesperson for Lorde has yet to respond.

The Grammys are set for 8:30 p.m. EST tonight, airing live coast-to-coast on CBS.
