Despite an Album of the Year nomination, it appears Jay-Z may not be taking the stage to perform at this Sunday night's 60th Grammy Awards.
Citing sources with knowledge of the rapper and music mogul's plans, Hits Daily Double on Tuesday reported Jay will not be performing, claiming he "has chosen not to" do so.
As we previously mentioned, Jay-Z is up for eight Grammys, the most of any artist this year. His critically acclaimed 4:44 is up for Record, Album and Song of the Year, as well as Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance.
Whatever the reason for Jay not to perform, it's not because of any beef with the Recording Academy. He is scheduled to received the 2018 Salute to Industry Icons Award, with the presentation taking place at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammys gala this Saturday night, just 24 hours before the big awards show.
While Jay may not be performing, a number of other A-list nominees have already been confirmed for Sunday's lineup, including Kendrick Lamar, Kesha, SZA, Alessia Cara, Khalid, Logic, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Childish Gambino, Lady Gaga, and Little Big Town.
A spokesperson for Jay-Z was not immediately available for comment. We have reached out to reps for the Recording Academy.
