Drake says producers for last Sunday's Grammy Awards pleaded for him to cancel two London shows and attend the glitzy ceremony instead.

“We’ve been conditioned to think that this is the true award for our accomplishments,” Drake said during a new interview on his OVO Sound radio show on Beats 1. “All I’m saying is—to kids that will be coming up in the future that might not get championed—that’s okay too. You’re dealing with a bunch of people that are just people at the end of the day.”

During the conversation, which aired Saturday night but was pre-recorded on Monday, Feb. 13, a day after the Grammys, Drizzy also took issue with the awards' category system, pointing to his own double wins for "Hotline Bling," including Best Rap Song.

"'Hotline Bling' is not a rap song," he said, suggesting "it was the only category they could manage to fit me in ... Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black; I can’t figure out why." He added: "I won two awards last night, but I don’t even want them, because it just feels weird for some reason."

As we previously mentioned, Drake was among nominees such as Kanye West, Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. Meanwhile, would-be nominee Frank Ocean publicly boycotted the show and withheld his album Blonde from contention this year.
