Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke's surprise new album, Tomorrow's Modern Boxes, is making quite the impression today.

The BitTorrent-exclusive download, which became available around 10 a.m. EST on Friday, sold approximately 112,000 copies—or 1.3 copies every second—in its first 24 hours, according to BitTorrent's tally as of Saturday morning.

While the exact time of the album's publication is unknown, the press release announcing its arrival was distributed Friday at 10:30 a.m. EST and BitTorrent showed roughly 1,000 copies had been sold 30 minutes later. The first Web indexing and Twitter mentions also began within the 10 a.m. hour.

Billboard acknowledged late Friday it was still unclear if Yorke's sales would be reported to Nielsen SoundScan for inclusion in the U.S. charts. Comparitively, Kenny Chesney's The Big Revival has been in the running for No. 1 against Barbra Streisand's Partners and Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's Cheek to Cheek, with each LP tracking between 120,000 to 125,000 copies sold for the week.

As of this writing, Boxes has sold 117,400 copies (internationally), which adds up to about $704,400 at $6 per download. A rep for Yorke did not immediately comment on the album's vinyl sales, which are not included in the aforementioned sum.

Yorke's previous solo album, 2006's The Eraser, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 90,000 copies sold in its first week.
