Vic Mensa is responding to some recent controversy on a newly released song called "Empathy," which arrived Wednesday afternoon.

On the new song, he addresses criticism he received for his freestyle at the BET Hip Hop Awards, in which he slammed XXXTentacion for his past legal run-ins and allegations of assault. He was not aware the late rapper's mother was present for the event.

Following the show's taping, fans noted Mensa himself admitted on his song "There’s A Lot Going On" he choked an ex-girlfriend in the middle of a fight. He acknowledges that in this new track.
