While house music might not frequently capture our attention, newcomers BOII have definitely earned it with their newly released debut single "Trace of Us."

Made up of Brooklyn-based producer Joshua Hoisington and London-based singer-songwriter Adam Welsh, the duo has signed to Sofi Tukker's new Animal Talk label, which has released the new track.

Though the song certainly has a fluttering undercurrent, it's also clearly dripping with emotion. As BOII notes, the lyrics are inspired by Welsh's teenage diary, stemmed in apathy and existential dread, as well as optimism that everything will be OK in the end.

BOII (pronounced "boy") was a moniker Hoisington suggested after realizing several of the songs Welsh had written were from the perspective of a paternal figure. The name is said to represent the "notion that growing up is a facade and each of us has an inner child grappling with our human existence."
