Newcomer Sharaya Summers is embracing past mistakes—or rather, looking beyond them—in her new single "Prodigal."

The track arrived over the weekend and it sees the rising Los Angeles-based singer overcoming the past and moving forward. It's a preview of her debut Bend Before We Break EP, which is expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

"We are all capable of being really shitty humans," says Summers of the new track. "Our scars are souvenirs ... This is a song about lowering our impossibly high standards of love and expectation. 'Prodigal' comes from my Christian background. It’s the story of the father who let his shitty son (who ran away and wasted everything) come back home. And you know what? He loved him even more for it."
