Canadian outfit KROWNS is making quite an impressive start on this Thursday, with their debut single "High While the World Ends."

The gritty, addictive cut is the first official offering from ringleader Kyle McKearney under the KROWNS moniker and, while it's technically out on Friday, it's premiering a day early on Variance.

Fusing the worlds of alt-rock and hip-hop, KROWNS would definitely fit easily on a playlist alongside the likes of twenty one pilots, while carving out a path of their own, aiming to "tell stories that allow people from all ends to empower themselves and live authentically."

"The song is about rising above what we can’t control, finding a way to keep our heads up when it seems impossible," says McKearney about the new track. "It is the honesty and conviction in these stories that touch home by relating to our own life experiences. They allow people from all ends to empower themselves, live authentically, and be triumphant in their own way."

"High" was produced by Grammy-winning producer Stephen "Koz" Kozmeniuk, who produced Kendrick Lamar's "The Blacker the Berry" off his incredible album To  Pimp a Butterfly and most recently he produced a large swath of Dua Lipa's self-titled debut record.

Hear "High While the World Ends" below or on any digital platform, and definitely stay tuned for more from KROWNS.
