Ahead of the weekend, Finneas O'Connell (aka FINNEAS) is giving fans a treat in the form of his new single "Landmine."
The track is officially out Friday, but FINNEAS is giving Variance an early listen today. It comes as the songwriter-producer, who happens to be the co-writer and producer for his sister (and Variance FutureSounds pick) Billie Eilish, just finished performing with his sis at Governors Ball and Bonnaroo, with other festivals on their summer schedule.
"This song is a little like a diary entry for me," FINNEAS tells Variance of the new track, which is admittedly very personal. "It scared me the first time I played it for anyone because I was saying things in it I’d only thought privately to myself until that point. I think the universality of the song is probably just because everyone knows what it feels like to realize loving someone is even more painful than leaving them."
"Landmine" follows of string of other releases from FINNEAS, including "New Girl," "In Love Without You," "Break My Heart Again" and "Life Moves On." While he recently began co-hosting a new Beats 1 radio show alongside Eilish, this new track is the latest evidence of his work as a solo artist, with more on the way.
Hear "Landmine" below.
