Fans have been eagerly waiting for new music from Best Coast and they're finally getting their wish. But it might not be quite what they expected.

Best Coast is releasing a children's album. Yes, it's true. They've crafted a kid-friendly record called Best Kids, featuring new original material from the band as well as covers of artists such as Lesley Gorge and Frankie Valli. Additionally, they're including a new rendition of their own track "When I'm with You."

“I wanted to make a kid's album not just for kids but also for the parents with cool music taste that might be tired of listening to the same songs off the Frozen soundtrack 200 times in a row,” said frontwoman Bethany Cosentino about the new record. “Bobb [Bruno] and I wanted to make something with an edge while staying in a kid-friendly lane.”

Best Kids, which follows Best Coast's last official release, 2015's California Nights, is coming June 22 via Amazon Music. It's unclear if this might mean additional music is also on the way, but we can only hope.

To celebrate, Best Coast has shared the first song from Best Kids titled "Cats & Dogs," which they describe as "an ode to universal love and unlikely critter friendships."
