Canadian musician-producer FRASE is getting the weekend started right, with a woozy new single "The Weight."

The slow-simmering cut, perfect for a fall weekend, is from the singer's newly released album FRnZ, which is out today. The song, which features Mumbai-based producer Sickflip, is reflective of a man looking back at his past relationships and feeling remorse over his treatment of women.

"The lyrics for this song had been circling in my head for a while before I had the chance to record it," FRASE tells Variance, recalling a 2014 meeting with Sickflip while touring in Mumbai. "We got together at his studio with the intention of working on a track together and I showed him my ideas for 'The Weight' on the piano. He knew immediately it was the track he wanted to collaborate on."

He says the song was was written "at a point in my life where I felt like my lifestyle needed to change," pointing to his decision to ditch his Montreal apartment in the dead of winter, sell his belongs and travel to India following a series of "unsuccessful relationships and failed musical projects."
