NBC's Parenthood is swapping out one Ritter for another. Although not related to Jason Ritter (who portrayed Mark Cyr last season), All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter is joining the critically acclaimed series for a major story arc in its upcoming fifth season.
The news was first reported by Huffington Post. Ritter will reportedly play Oliver Rome, an "immature, egomaniacal, tantrum-prone lead singer" of a band that will be recording at the Luncheonette. His character will be tied in with Mae Whitman's Amber.
The recurring role will be the singer's first significant acting role, following small roles on 90210 and House.
This latest casting follows The Office's David Denman (Roy), who will be getting very friendly with Julia (played by Erika Christiansen), and Lost vet Sonya Walger’s previously announced casting as Joel's (Same Jaeger) new co-worker.
Parenthood returns Sept. 26 at 10/9c.
