After another rocky year on the comedy front, NBC is hoping to take it back to the '80s when things were much more upbeat for the network.

As Deadline reports, the Peacock is bringing Bill Cosby back to star in a new, half-hour family comedy. His original The Cosby Show led a ratings surge for NBC when it premiered in 1984, and it's likely the network is hoping for another winner.

Cosby has again joined forces with producer Tom Werner, who co-produced Cosby Show. He told Yahoo! TV in November that they'd like to "see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes. Warmth and forgiveness."

The 76-year-old comedian joins other returning favorites next season. As we previously reported, NBC has already ordered a new Tina Fey-produced comedy starring The Office actress Ellie Kemper.
