Mayer Hawthorne on Thursday unveiled a new track just in time for Father's Day, a tribute to his own dad titled "Reach Out Richard," produced by Pharrell Williams. It's a soulful, funky tune that seems to play very well to the duo's individual strengths.
“With Father’s Day coming up, I wanted to share a special song about my father,” Hawthorne said of the track. “This was the hardest song I’ve ever had to write. I still tear up sometimes just thinking about it. Thanks to Pharrell for pushing me to get the whole story out. Love you, Dad. I’ll find my way eventually.”
Hawthorne's new album, Where Does This Door Go, arrives July 16 via Republic, and he'll hit the road with OneRepublic starting on July 19 in Tulsa, Okla.
