FX has renewed its anthology series Fargo for a third season in 2016, the network announced Monday afternoon ahead of a new episode tonight.

It's hardly a surprise as the current second season is easily one of the best on television right now and the previous first season nabbed an impressive 18 Emmy nominations with three wins. Its most recent episode averaged 2.6 million viewers.

Created by Noah Hawley, the show is based somewhat on Joel and Ethan Coen's 1996 film, Fargo.

“Year two of Fargo is an extraordinary achievement and, given Noah Hawley’s masterful storytelling, we can’t wait to see where the third, all-new version of Fargo takes us,” FX Networks president of programming Eric Schrier said in a statement.
