Before it officially arrives next Friday (July 17), Jason Isbell's masterful new album, Something More Than Free, can be heard in full—for free.

It marks the former Drive-By Truckers member's followup to 2013's Southeastern. But perhaps more than in his previous full-length, the Alabama native strikes a brilliant balance of staying true to his roots in the South while also charting his own path.
