MTV Video Music Awards host Miley Cyrus closed Sunday night's show by announcing the release of a surprise album, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, which is available now.

The LP is a collaborative project with The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne, who co-wrote and produced a large portion of the set. It features the likes of Phantogram vocalist Sarah Barthel, Big Sean, Mike Will Made-It and Ariel Pink.

Additionally, the album is a self-funded effort and is not part of the singer's deal with RCA Records.
