We know there is an overload of new music this week as everyone makes their pre-Coachella moves, but emerging artist Ryan Egan's debut album should absolutely be on your playlist.
The newly released record, titled Soft Power, finds the Paris-based American music-maker showcasing a wealth of skills as he breezes his way through a bevy of musical sounds, refusing to be limited to one particular genre. It was produced in collaboration with Kevin Basko (Foxygen, The Lemon Twigs) between Philadelphia, Paris, New York and New Jersey.
"This album, which was recorded, mixed and mastered in under one month, is the culmination of two years of experimentation, dozens of songs, and two countries of residence," says Egan of the new record. "All leading to one coherent sonic moment captured at the end of Winter 2021. These songs are my weapons, my power, my one sole purpose on Earth. I haven’t overhyped this, have I?”
Soft Power includes previously released songs "Alone For the Last Time," "Weeknights" and "We Do It On Purpose" as well as Egan's new single "Full-Time" and the standout opener "Loner."
