Italian alt-pop duo Palmaria and just unveiled their stunning five-track EP, Crystallize. Opening up about everything from ocean pollution, to self-empowerment and tales of old Italian legends, the now London based twosome have concocted a thought-provoking release which tantalizes all senses. The singer’s distinct vocals narrate their observations from everyday life, turning it into a poetic delivery which accompanies their wistful sound and hypnotic melodies.

Taking inspiration from the likes of Sylvan Esso, Little Dragon, The XX and Hiatus Kaiyote, Palmaria have successfully established a sound which truly whisks you away to another dimension. All tinged with influences from their Italian upbringing, listening to Crystallize is like a journey through the Italian countryside, with the sounds of the ocean crashing in the background and the warmth of the sun on your skin. With honey-toned synths, ethereal melodies, organic guitars and layered harmonies, the EP gives you everything you want. Creating a soft, rich and velvety soundtrack to allow you space for a moment of reflection.

Title-track “Crystallize” is certainly a standout song off the EP. Written after watching the Netflix series ‘Unorthodox’, the track encourages you to find a sense of freedom in your life and live your true self. The duo explain, “It’s an invitation to step out of your comfort zone and get rid of negative influences in your life”. The song flutters with oscillating synths, delicate vocals, and vibrant, colorful melodies.

If you’re looking for some zen in your life, then Crystallize is the one for you.
