Toronto teen Cmagic5 has just released the ultimate pick me up. After the release of her album Ready To Run, the popstress is back with her latest single “Dancing On My Heart” giving a shout out to her past lover. The totally relatable single pulls on inspiration from Ava Max, Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus delivering icy smooth vocals, memorable hooks and animated production.

Honing in on the best of the best, the track was written alongside Jim McGorman (Avril Lavigne, Cher, Gwen Stefani, Shakira, Goo Goo Dolls) and Will Champlin (2x Grammy-winning songwriter), as well as vocal engineer Trevor Anderson (Grammy-nominated, Juno winning, Gold + Platinum), vocal director Kibwe Thomas (2021 collaboration with JP Saxe at CityTV’s GRAMMYs pre-show) and Dan Braunstein (Dua Lipa). The single narrates moving on from a breakup and the frustration of trying to not fall back into the familiarity of that person. She speaks on the single sharing, “It’s all about how my ex dances on my heart like it's his stage and steals the spotlight. This can be summed up in the lyrical motifs, “I keep giving in and that’s my crime.” In a fun and playful way, it’s all about holding your ex responsible for your inability to move on. It’s almost as if your ex is your guilty pleasure.”

Sonically the tune is a clean-cut pop track, infused with Cmagic5’s love for multiple genres and classical training, the song is alive and vibrant. Rich in smoothed over drums hits, funky guitar and glittering synths reminiscent of Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia album. With snazzy lyrics like “guilty rhythm has got no time” it’s clear to see the Toronto artist’s writing has matured along with an over streamline of production, she is bringing her music to the next level. Keep up with the rising star and check out her latest track “Dancing On My Heart."
