We should probably be thanking CHVRCHES for working through the pandemic to create what turned out to be their new album Screen Violence.

Released on Friday, the band's fourth full-length is ultimately a soundtrack for these difficult times we're living in, inspired by the harsh reality of 2020, living and communicating through screens, surrounded by trauma, a watching towering figures and idols fall.

“I think for me it was helpful to go into the process with the idea that I could write something escapist almost,” says frontwoman Lauren Mayberry of the album. “That felt freeing initially, to have concepts and stories to weave your own feelings and experiences through but in the end, all the lyrics were definitely still personal.”

Martin Doherty adds: “To me, the screen aspect was a bit more literal. When we were making the record, it was like half of our lives were lived through screens. What began as a concept was now a lifeline.”

Beginning this fall, CHVRCHES will take their new album on the road, with their North American trek kicking off in Houston and running through the months of November and December.
