Of course, Houndmouth has gifted fans with not one but two new songs as they get ready to hit the road.
With just weeks to go before the start of their tour later this summer, they delivered a mid-week boost with their new songs "Good for You" and "Cool Jam," their first new music in two years, rcorded with Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Hiss Golden Messenger) and mixed by Jon Ashley (The War On Drugs, B.J. Barham).
"Good for You" comes from the perspective of a narrator down on their luck, faced with a bitter breakup with a backdrop of the Kentucky Derby. But despite the context, it's still somehow carefree if not blissful. "Cool Jam" is actually more impassioned, reflective of a failed romance and a realization that the magic is gone. Of the two tracks, the latter is our favorite.
