Last month, Vic Mensa grabbed attention with his stirring track "Shelter," a collaboration with Chance the Rapper and Wyclef Jean.

Now, he has released a whole project, his seven-track I TAPE, which arrived Friday. And while it's no secret Mensa has leaned into his activist inclinations in recent years, this new EP finds him embracing his role as a leader and channeling his energy to fight injustice and call for change.

"The I TAPE is a cry for freedom, a visceral look into the soul of a man in America,” he says. “Lyrically, I wanted to explore themes of rebellion and incarceration, weaving real stories with hard truths."
