People across the world are surely in various states of emotion right now, and Aussie singer Callum Meadows, aka MDWS (pronounced "Meadows"), is right there with them in his new single "Old Friends."

The Variance favorite shared the new song Friday, inspired by his childhood experience of moving to a different country and losing his best friend. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Mac DeMarco, Joji and Childish Gambino, MDWS wrote and produced the song is his own living room studio.

“I wanted to write a song through the eyes of a 10 year old me," he says. "Everything he felt with the loss of a close friend and then uprooting his life to move countries in the same year."

This new song follows MDWS' previous standout "Lena." And it comes as he's planning to release a new EP later this year.
