Rising artist Alexander 23 on Wednesday released a new song called "I Hate You So Much," which seems to be timed to coincide with Valentine's Day this Friday.

The new music follows a busy year for the young singer, who released his his standout single "Dirty AF1s" and then put out his I'm Sorry I Love You EP back in October.

"'I Hate You So Much' is about being emotionally haunted by someone you desperately want to despise," says Alexander of the new song. "Sometimes, no matter how hard you try to hate someone, you can’t escape your unhealthy love for them."

Last year, he opened for Alec Benjamin, made his Lollapalooza debut and then hit the road with mxmtoon and Omar Apollo. Now, he's currently on tour opening for Chelsea Cutler alongside X Lovers, but earlier this month he played his first headlining show.

"This past year has been full of so many incredibly special moments, but nothing compares to real people coming together in a real place to connect through real music," he wrote on Facebook. "Thank you forever."
