After returning over the summer with lead single "Heavenly," Cigarettes After Sex on Friday released their sophomore album Cry.
The 9-track, 40-minute set is quite next to perfect, an ethereal listen from the whispering glow of opener "Don't Let Me Go" to the delicate simplicity of "Pure," the final track on the record.
"The sound of this record is completely tied to the location for me," says frontman Greg Gonzalez of the album, which was recorded at a mansion of the island of Mallorca. "Ultimately, I view this record as a film. It was shot in this stunning, exotic location, and it stitches all these different characters and scenes together, but in the end is really about romance, beauty [and] sexuality. It’s a very personal telling of what those things mean to me."
The album comes as the band has been in the middle of a North American tour, wrapping this weekend before heading to Europe.
