Vancouver-based singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Benji Klassen (aka BENJII) is getting a head start on the weekend with the release of his new single "I Won't Die for You."

The pulsating new cut is officially out on Friday, but it's premiering a day early on Variance. The new song follows his recent first two singles "California" and "BOA," with this new one being his third and perhaps most emotional, drawing inspiration from the tragedy of suicide.

"While speaking out on mental health issues or addiction has become a 'trendy' topic as of late, it sadly feels like a lot of us are becoming indifferent to the idea of it," says BENJII, noting: "'I Won’t Die For You' takes place in the clouded mind of someone going through the heartbreaking motions of addiction and depression. Though I’ve never found myself enveloped in this sort of darkness, I’ve witnessed so many beautiful people I love struggle in silence. It’s left me feeling broken and burning."
