Before they release their debut EP later this month, U.K. trio IYEARA is offering up a preview with their new single "Exhale."

The haunting new track officially arrives Friday (Sept. 20), but it's premiering today on Variance. It comes ahead of the full EP, titled Consequences, which is being released Sept. 27 via TrES-2b Recordings / Ingrooves.

"Lyrically, 'Exhale' is a study of what makes a person," says singer Paul O'Keefe. "Who are we and what relationships shape us? I played with the idea, that 'the last breath we take and a life flashing before our eyes' untangle these questions. Who do we see? What do we feel. Love? In that last moment. The idea that people make an impression on us that never leaves. Even a relationship some 10 or 15 years past is a mark on us. Like a name written on the back of a hand."

IYEARA is made up of O'Keefe alongside The Duke Spirit's Toby Butler and Malcolm Carson of Tape the Radio. They started with a handful of remixes for the likes of Laura Marling, The Boxer Rebellion and The Ting Tings. They also have more on the way later this year.

Hear "Exhale" below or on any digital platform when it becomes available Friday.
